Blue Devils Girls’ Lax Seeks Equipment Donations

January 16, 2024

The Huntington High School girls’ lacrosse program is asking community members with new or used sticks, cleats, goggles, pinnies and any other gear to consider donating it for use by new players on the varsity and JV teams.

This year’s varsity will be coached by Katie Reilly, Chris Taylor and Lauren Blackburn. The JV will be led by coaches Chiara Maimaone and Ivano Naccarato. Huntington has high hopes for success.

The Blue Devils are striving to improve their player depth, but some girls lack their own equipment because they either only recently began playing the sport or are completely new.

Most former players, and even some of those currently playing, have lots of unused gear lying around. Coach Reilly would like all of it to be donated. “We could really use everything because we have many new girls with little to no experience who are interested in playing,” she said. “We’d like to give them a stick and goggles to get them off the ground.”

Those interested in donating items can drop them off at the high school athletic office. If it’s easier to stop at the main entrance and leave the gear in the main lobby, that’s fine, too.

Those interested in helping out can contact either Coach Reilly at katiereilly920@gmail.com or 516.551.5968 or Athletic Director Jim Hoops at jhoops@hufsd.edu or 631.673.2017.
