Huntington’s Fall On-Site Admissions Initiative Successful
December 18, 2024
Huntington High School College & Career Counseling Center has successfully wrapped up its fall on-site admissions program and officials said the results are “outstanding.”
“We welcomed college representatives from Hofstra University, Long Island University, Molloy University, St. Joseph's University, St. John's University and Suffolk County Community College to meet with our seniors,” said Dr. Ricky V. Papandrea, Jr., district director of school counseling and testing, K-12. “This incredible opportunity allowed our students to complete their admissions process right here at school.”
Dr. Papandrea reported that 66 Huntington High School students were granted college acceptances on the spot. “An amount of $4,028,000 in four-year scholarship totals were awarded to our talented seniors,” he added. “This is a testament to the hard work, determination and excellence of our students, as well as the support and guidance provided by our Counseling Center team.”
Huntington UFSD officials want to enhance and expand the initiative to include additional colleges. Students seem to love it.
“Thank you to all participating colleges and universities for making this program such a success,” Dr. Papandrea said. “We are so proud of our students and cannot wait to see all the amazing things they will accomplish.”
