Application Period Opens for Career Internship Program

The application period for Huntington High School’s 2025/26 career internship program is now open. Current senior interns have been visiting eleventh grade English classes to discuss their experience in the program and to answer questions.
Current juniors are encouraged to apply for an internship now through January 6, 2025. Teachers Eileen Gonzalez and Camille Tedeschi serves as the program’s co-faculty advisors.
“Depending on the student’s interest, we have a wide range of placements in classes such business, technology, the arts, world languages, humanities and more,” Ms. Gonzalez said. “With the internship program, students can gain valuable knowledge and skills that will help them in the future. This hands-on experience that complements their academic learning, allows them to discover more about the field they may wish to pursue in the future.”
Students are also invited to pursue internships outside the school as well as with academic departments within the school. These students can reach out to businesses and departments of interest and let the advisors know.
How to Apply
Students can submit their applications through the this link: https://forms.gle/nbgG9HP8Z5wQmxRu7. The application requires students to provide basic contact information, a brief personal statement explaining why they are interested in participating, and a list of their top internship preferences. A letter of recommendation from a teacher or school staff member is also required.

Lottery System
“As the number of available internship positions is limited, the selection process will take place via a random lottery,” Ms. Tedeschi said. “The lottery will be conducted on February 7, 2025 and students will be notified of their placements shortly after.”
Internship Details
Each internship is designed to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience, including mentoring from teachers and/or professionals in the field. Students will be expected to commit 2-2.5 hours per week..
