School Board Accepts Generous Donations to District

Huntington School Board members unanimously accepted a series of donations to Huntington UFSD during Monday night’s public meeting at the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School auditorium.

The donations covered the following items:

• Joan and Thomas O’Brien donated $12,000 to establish the Finn O’Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of their son, Finn. The scholarship will provide financial support for students who plan to pursue higher education in art or a career in art.

• Huntington High School’s Class of 2024 donated $1,000 to be credited to the Finn O’Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of their fallen classmate.

• Huntington High School music teacher Dr. Jason Giachetti donated men’s formal clothing items to the high school drama club. The items have an approximate value of $965.

• The Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School PTA presented a donation of $2,500 to be used to offset student field trips.

• The Washington Primary School PTA presented a donation of $700 to be used to offset student field trips.
