VE Students Leave Mark at Oyster Bay Trade Show

Huntington High School Virtual Enterprise students left their mark at last week’s trade show at Oyster Bay High School. The four Huntington firms were able to market and sell their products to 18 other companies from 12 Long Island high school.

“This was the first in person trade show of the year where student's personal connection and sales skills were on display and for many here, the first time they have had to sell their product face to face rather than over the computer,” said Bryan Outsen, a Huntington High School business education teacher who oversees the Virtual Enterprise program.

In total, Huntington High School made $440,333.25 in revenue between the four firms in just 90 minutes. “The participants from each firm represented not only the sales department, but also various other departments within the company,” Mr. Outsen said. “This final push in revenue was essential to complete their financial analysis and sales projections needed for the regional business plan competition at LIU Post on January 8, 2025.

A closer look at Huntington’s four Virtual Enterprise firms and the corporate executives who vied in trade show at Oyster Bay is as follows:

Raydiance: A company creating state of the art sunscreen dispensers for outdoor venues to help combat skin cancer: $96,490.44 in revenue. Corporate executives: Nick Normoyle (CSO), Ryan DiVico (CFO), Max Carino (Sales Associate), Marin Mullaly (CTO), Lexi Balm (VP of HR), Mia Johnson (Office Manager), Zain Amin (Sales Associate)

Flo-Pro: A company revolutionizing lawn care with a sprinkler head attachment that distributes eco-friendly liquid fertilizer to residential and commercial lawns: $89,926.82 in revenue. Corporate executives: Mia Molina (CEO), Sofia Vias (CMO), Alvin Luna (VP HR), Xavier Andersen (CTO), Ethan Naima (CFO), Joseph Tetrault (IT/Design Associate), Henry Gerberg (CSO)

Horizon VR: A company creating a virtual reality therapy experience for teens and adults that helps address various aspects of mental illness: $77,394.48 in revenue. Corporate executives: Frank Algieri (CSO), Banny Soc Concua (CFO), Braid Martin (VP of Sales), Kyra Larsen (Marketing Associate), Sage Cicciari (CMO), Bridget Callery (VP of HR)

Haven: A school safety company that has designed a safe, effective, easy to use, and lightweight bulletproof barrier for classroom doors to ensure the safety of students and staff: $176,521.51 in revenue. Corporate executives: Henry Stein (VP of Sales), Jeremy Gross (CTO), Jack Kamenstein (Sales Associate), Spencer Krull (CSO), Walter Kusterbeck (Sales Associate), Grayson Dunn (CEO), Mabelin Maldonado (Office Manager), Kymora Dorvilus (VP of HR)

Virtual Enterprise is a full-year, one credit honors business class available to Huntington High School juniors and seniors. “Virtual Enterprise is a simulated business that is set up and run by students to prepare them for working in a real business environment,” according to the course bulletin. Course grades carry an “honors weighting.” Reduced rate college course credit is available on an optional basis through Farmingdale State University.
