Huntington Vocalists Perform at Board of Ed Meeting

December 10, 2024

Huntington High School’s highly regarded chamber choir entertained the crowd at Monday night’s public meeting of the Huntington School Board in Adam Spector Auditorium at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School.

The vocalists performed four songs, including “Jingle Bells,” “O Hanukkah,” “Mary, Did You Know” and “Joy to the World.” The chamber choir annually performs a holiday selection at the trustees’ December meeting. Charles Colassanti is the choir’s director.

The vocalists included Emily Barba, Caleigh Camarata, Liva Camarata, Kevin Dominguez, Lauren Dopico, Michaela Dopico, Rachel Huth, Emily Kustera, Walter Lopez Martinez, Dennis McCook, Mia Molina-Baptista, Sergio Pertillo, Sofia Rodriguez, Jayden Roman, Alexa Schirripa, DeAndre Simmons, Samuel Soric, James Stensland, Josephine Sullivan and Alexander Tine.

The Huntington High School choral program is among the best on Long Island. The student-vocalists themselves make the group No. 1. The high school program features two choirs. The concert choir is open to anyone who loves to sing while the chamber choir is an elite, audition-only group.

Monday night’s performance created a festive environment in the auditorium. Trustees, administrators and audience members gave the musicians the applause they deserved. On their way to their cars, the group stopped, gathered together and posed for a commemorative photo outside of the auditorium.
