An all-volunteer organization with no administrative costs or national affiliation, the Junior Welfare League of Huntington was founded in 1933. “We raise money in Huntington, for Huntington,” the organization’s website states.

“I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been fortunate to experience while working with the Junior Welfare League and collaborating alongside dedicated women committed to serving their community,” Ms. Parks said. “Not only has my involvement in the Junior Welfare League allowed me to participate in many service projects and provide help to those in need, but it has allowed me to build strong relationships with inspiring women as mentors. Their support has been a large part in shaping my character and fostering my academic growth as I pursue my college career and future community service wherever I go. I am confident that the invaluable experiences I’ve gained will continue to guide me towards a future enriched with purpose and contribution.”

The organization provides goods and services to individuals and families in need of financial assistance. “Thank you again to Gennoffe Brady, the Junior Welfare League of Huntington and all those involved in our organization’s service,” Ms. Parks said.

The Huntington senior recently revealed she will be moving on to study at Clemson University’s Wilbur O. And Ann Powers College of Business. “I am very excited to embark on this new chapter and gain valuable insights to drive success in the ever-evolving business landscape,” Ms. Parks said.

The teenager will be missed at Huntington, where she was a field hockey and golf star. But she’s excited to be headed to Clemson to study business.

“This decision represents a significant milestone in my journey toward personal and professional growth,” Ms. Parks said. “I am eager to immerse myself in the rich academic environment at Clemson and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the dynamic world of business. I am grateful for the support of my mentors, colleagues and loved ones who have encouraged me along this path.”
