Family Dinner Taco Style at Washington School

April 15, 2024

Since the day it was dedicated in early September 1954, Washington Primary School has been all about family. Originally called Whitson Road Elementary School during its planning and construction phases, Huntington School Board members decided to name it in honor of the first United States president and over the past nearly 70 years more than 30,000 students have studied inside its hallowed walls.

Today’s Washington Primary School is filled with proud boys and girls who look like America. They are bright, eager, inquisitive and love to talk about what they are learning to anyone willing to listen.

Last Friday night, Washington School’s formidable PTA hosted a family dinner “taco style.” “Washington families enjoyed an evening of fellowship and food,” Principal Dr. Michelle Richards said. “Student volunteers from J. Taylor Finley Middle School helped check in families, serve and clean up as part of their community service outreach.”

All of the Washington students, siblings and parents had their appetites satisfied by the time the dinner concluded. It was a fun evening for everyone.

The Washington Primary School PTA executive board is led by co-presidents Kristin DuPlessis and Abbey Lochner, Vice President Yeslin Bonilla, Corresponding Secretary Holly Zarcone, Recording Secretary Lisa Byrnes, Treasurer Ryan Derousseau and PTA Council Delegates Victoria LaMendola and Tara Tortora.
