National Football Foundation Honors David Dax

Huntington senior David Asher Dorilus Dax was among those honored at the Suffolk chapter of the National Football Foundation’s annual scholar athlete brunch at the Marriott Hotel in Melville last Sunday.

David Dax was honored by the Suffolk chapter of the National Football Foundation.

Founded in 1947, the National Football Foundation is a non-profit educational organization that runs programs designed to use the power of amateur football in developing scholarship, citizenship and athletic achievement in young people.

The Suffolk chapter’s mission is to promote and develop the power of amateur football in developing the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and academic excellence the Section XI football community.

“Huntington's nominee is someone who has shown the greatest quality in leadership and community and has done well in academics and athletics,” said Ronald E. Wilson, the Huntington High School varsity football team’s head coach.

Dax has compiled a four year academic grade average in excess of 90. A three-sport athlete, he has captured post-season honors in football, indoor track and spring track in each of the past two years and captained teams in all three seasons.

A member of Huntington’s mock trial team and Varsity Club, Dax is also active with the Social Justice Committee in Suffolk as well as with the Young Leaders mentorship program at the high school.

“David participates in athletics and all of these clubs and is still able to maintain a high GPA,” Wilson said. “He along with several teammates from our football team organized a food drive that filled the shelves of our community food banks.”

The teenager has narrowed his down his college search to Stony Brook University and Molloy University in Rockville Centre.
