“I chose Adelphi because of its excellent reputation for learning and the programs of study that it offers,” Ms. Wesnofske said. “I also felt comfortable at its campus because the surrounding environment was very lively and fun with people outside playing games, having picnics or just genuinely looking happy. Adelphi also has a lot activities outside of learning like exercise classes or clubs.”

The senior is well known for always giving her best effort toward whatever needs to be done at any given time. Ms. Wesnofske says that “when situations get tough,” she strives “to believe that everything will work out in the end.”

A member of the high school’s National Honor Society chapter, Ms. Wesnofske has regularly earned a spot on Huntington’s High Honor Roll.

“I intend to study early childhood education in order to become an elementary school teacher,” Ms. Wesnofske said. “Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed working with kids and it’s something that has stuck with me since. Over the past months, I have participated in an internship at Southdown Primary School in their after-school program. I feel that it has definitely given some beneficial insight on what to expect in my future.”

The teenager played on this spring’s varsity softball team. She’s enjoyed the relationships she was able to form with Huntington’s teachers and her classmates.

“I have cherished many moments such as being involved in sports and events like the bonfire,” Ms. Wesnofske said. “I have also been a member of Key Club and the National Honor Society, both of which enhanced my overall experience and participation at Huntington, something that I won’t ever forget.”

This is an exciting time in Ms. Wesnofske’s life and while she’s enjoyed the past four years, she is thrilled to be moving on and beginning her quest for a career as a teacher.

“During my time at Huntington since kindergarten, I have truly loved my teachers over the years because they have been so supportive and great, especially, my high school art teacher Ms. [Ayallah] Jeddah and Mrs. [Lisa] Baldanza from my elementary years, as well as so many others,” Ms. Wesnofske said. “They have all made my school career so much more fun and enjoyable. I also have formed bonds in my years with friends that I know I will have forever in my life.”
