With the Huntington High School boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams both qualifying for the Suffolk playoffs, interest in the sport and in the two programs is soaring. Little wonder why so many young players have already registered for the Huntington Booster Club’s summer boys’ and girls’ lacrosse camps.
Registration is now available online for the entire summer camp program by visiting www.huntingtonboosterclub.com and clicking on the link for Summer Camp.
The boys’ lacrosse camp is open to anyone interested in the sport. Blue Devil varsity head coach Julian Watts will serve as the camp director. Sessions will be focused on the essential skills of throwing, catching and scooping up ground balls as well as game play.
The camp will run from July 10-13 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the Huntington High School turf field. The camp fee is $150. For more information, send a message to Coach Watts at jwatts@hufsd.edu.
The girls’ lacrosse camp is available to all girls interested in having fun and learning more about the game of lacrosse. Huntington varsity head coach Katie Reilly will direct the camp.
Camp sessions will focus all of the important aspects of the sport along with a closer look at the small details that often mean the difference between success and failure on the field.
Coach Reilly strives for participants to have fun while working hard on individual and team related skills. There will be both drilling and scrimmaging.
The girls’ lacrosse camp will run from July 17-20 on the high school’s turf field. The daily session for students entering grades 1-6 will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a registration fee of $150. The session for those entering grades 7-12 will go from 6-8 p.m. and cost $100.
