May 18, 2023
Martin Newman has carved out a nice niche for himself at Huntington High School, where he is a respected member of the Class of 2023. The senior has distinguished himself academically and earned the affection of his classmates and teachers.
Mr. Newman plans to study computer science at Farmingdale State University. He’s a spectacular student and sports a near perfect grade average. He’s regularly earned a spot on the high school’s High Honor Roll.
The teenager said that his success is derived from the support he has received from his family and friends. Mr. Newman said he’s “grateful for all of their encouragement throughout high school.”
The senior has looked to take advantage of the myriad of opportunities presented to Huntington students. A member of the National Honor Society, he was chosen to participate in the American Legion’s highly regarded Boys State program, which is among the most respected and selective educational initiatives of government instruction for US high school students. Mr. Newman traveled to SUNY Morrisville in upstate New York to participate in the program.
A happy, optimistic and positive-thinking young man, Mr. Newman has contributed to all of his classes. He’s volunteered with Huntington’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and the school’s Environmental Club.
Mr. Newman suited up for the Blue Devil varsity swimming team for several seasons. He’s a competitive young man and enjoys the challenge of a good video game.
The teenager is studious, without a doubt, but he also enjoys the simpler things in life, including spending time at home with his family. He also displays a great sense of humor.
Asked to pick Huntington High School’s No. 1 teacher, Mr. Newman said “that’s impossible. There are so many good teachers here. It’s a great school. I’ve enjoyed my time here.”
