Maria Sabatino Sketches Plans for the Future

Maria Sabatino is practical. The Huntington High School senior displays the type of flexibility and foresight that could serve anyone well. Like most of her classmates, she has important decisions to make about her future, but she came to the realization that a variety of routes are available to realizing her dreams.
“At first, I was set on going to Sacred Heart University, but the cost was way too much,” Ms. Sabatino said. “I decided I would be better off starting at Suffolk Community College, while getting the required classes out of the way and saving money all at once. I plan on transferring down south after one year at Suffolk.”
A delightful young woman who has impressed her classmates and teachers since beginning kindergarten at Washington Primary School, is interested in pursuing an academic major in either public relations or filmmaking.
“Ever since I was younger, I have always been interested in the celebrity world, including movies, fashion, modeling, etc. and would love to have a career in one of those areas,” Ms. Sabatino said.
A sweet young woman with a wonderful sense of humor, Ms. Sabatino has been a popular figure around the district for many years.
“One of the highlights of my time in Huntington would be performing with the Highsteppers,” Ms. Sabatino said. “This year I was senior captain, which was an amazing opportunity. My teammates and I also competed at nationals in Florida, which was one of the best experiences I’ve had.”
The teenager will graduate in June with many loyal friends and many teachers who have made a positive difference in her life, including Robert Gilmor III, known to many students as “Gil.”
“Luckily, I had a very enjoyable time at Huntington,” Ms. Sabatino said. “The district introduced me to all of my best friends and experiences. I was surrounded by loving teachers and friends who not only helped me get through these years, but made it fun, too. Gil was one of those people always by my side supporting me.”
