Brooke Parks is Huntington’s First Girls’ Golf All-Leaguer

Huntington High School’s brand new varsity girls’ golf team enjoyed a spectacular first season, surprising many opponents and finishing in the middle of the Suffolk League I standings. Junior Brooke Parks became the first ever female Blue Devil All-League golfer.

Parks carded an average score of 43.6 over the course of the regular season, putting her in the top four of all scorers in the league. Rising to the No. 1 position in Huntington’s starting line-up, the teenager compiled a record of 10-2.

The junior’s league average qualified her to play in the Section XI tournament on May 22-23 at Middle Island Country Club in Yaphank. Parks will try make history again as she strives to capture All-County honors.

Parks loves golf and she is helping Huntington develop a strong program years before anyone thought possible. Head coach Mike Marinello believes he has a champion in the making in the teenager.

“Brooke has done a great job developing her fundamental skills this year,” Marinello said. “She has the athletic ability and the competitive spirit to take it to the next level. I look forward to seeing her compete at the county and lead our team next season.”
