“I was accepted into many competitive programs, but I chose Binghamton because it offers
an excellent academic environment in my field of study with easy access to many internship opportunities around campus and proximity to many outdoor activities and skiing,” Ms. Rathore said.

The teenager attributes her success to “staying active and involved” while reserving the time and space needed to decompress and reflect.

“At Binghamton, I plan to study biology on a pre-physician assistant track,” Ms. Rathore said. “I am will also be participating in a research program that will give me hands on research experience that falls alongside with my major.”

While Ms. Rathore was forced to sit out the girls’ soccer season last fall while recovering from a knee injury, she attended every practice and game and was an essential member of the team.

“I couldn’t have hoped for a more well-rounded educational and extracurricular experience as Huntington High School,” Ms. Rathore said. “Right from my days at Southdown, where I was able to join the dual-language program to the high school, I have been provided with the best resources and opportunities to grow. It has also become a second home for me where I have built many lifelong relationships that I will always cherish.”

A third degree black belt; a New York State Scholar Athlete; an Advanced Placement Spanish course award winner; a member of a long list of academic honor societies – Ms. Rathore has qualified for the Seal of Biliteracy designation on her high school diploma denoting that she is completely bilingual.

“I was fortunate to have so many great teachers from my freshman to senior year,” Ms. Rathore said. “They made learning intriguing and exciting. The athletic community has also been one of the best here at Huntington, especially my junior year when many of our sports teams including my own with girls’ soccer, made it past the first round of playoffs, one even went to the finals. The school has been nothing but supportive and it was an amazing experience to see how everyone came to watch and support. Overall, my experience here at Huntington has been amazing and it has taught and prepared me for success for all aspects of life.”
