Huntington seniors Lauren Gennarelli and Nadeera Ali won High Honors at the LI Science Congress 

Huntington Impressive at LI Science Congress

Huntington High School science research program participants turned in an impressive performance at the Long Island Science Congress. Vying against hundreds of students from across Nassau and Suffolk counties, the Huntington contingent captured numerous awards.

The LI Science Congress provides a forum for an exhibit of adjudicated science projects by Nassau and Suffolk middle school, junior high school and senior high school students. Sponsored by the LI section of the Science Teachers Association of New York State, the LI Science Congress was founded in 1950 under the umbrella of the NYS Science Teachers Association and The Nassau Daily Review-Star newspaper.

The research team consisting of Nadeera Ali, Lauren Gennarelli and Rachel Morina earned High Honors for their project titled “The Effect of Dimethyl Phthalate and 3,4-Bishydroxymethyl Furan on the Fertility of Marisa Cornuarietis.”

Peter Gaal and Dominick Vidota claimed the Achievement Award along with Shaina Linker, Olivia Polinsky and Lucas Spagnoletti.

Claire Parks, Mildred Hernandez-Veliz and Jaipreet Singh captured the Meritorious Award along with Jessica Bree, Jordana Boxer and Cecilena Monge Moreira.

Emma Polinsky Jeffrey Murillo garnered honorable mention recognition.

The honored students worked with research program science teachers Lori Kenny, Deborah Beck, Michael Corcoran and Matt Liguori.
