June 22, 2023

The Huntington Lions Club has placed a “bet” that Sarah Krisch is headed for a successful experience at college and in her eventual career and beyond in life. The organization presented the spectacular Huntington High School Class of 2023 member with a $5,000 scholarship award to help defray college related expenses.

An exceptional young woman who carries himself with grace and dignity in every aspect of her life, Ms. Krisch is headed to Georgia Institute of Technology where she intends to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering on a pre-med track.

Huntington Lions Club President John DeLorenzo was on hand to present the $5,000 scholarship to Ms. Krisch at the high school’s senior academic scholarships and awards ceremony.

The teenager attributes her success to “quite a few things,” including following her interests and working hard to fulfill the high expectations she sets for herself; balancing collaboration with thinking independently and being creative.

A member of five separate academic honor societies, Ms. Krisch has been a chemistry lab assistant, president of the high school’s National Honor Society chapter, corresponding secretary of the Environmental Club, secretary of the Grandfriends Club and a member of Huntington’s robotics team,

The teenager said she has “loved” having the same group of kids in most of her classes for the past four years. Developing close friendships has helped make Ms. Krisch’s high school years special.

The mission of Lions Clubs International is “to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.”
