Rachel Morina Garners Josten’s Leadership Scholarship
June 16, 2023
Rachel Morina has garnered the Josten’s Leadership Scholarship. The Huntington High School senior is headed to the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the fall.
One of the top students in the Class of 2023, Ms. Morina said developing good relationships with her teachers and classmates has been the key to her success. She said that by doing so, she has learned to put herself “out there” and was able to derive the most out of every class.
“The Josten’s Leadership Scholarship, provided by our school ring company each year, is presented to one student who is a positive role model, volunteering time in school and in the community,” Principal Brenden Cusack said. “I’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know Rachel Morina over her time at Huntington High School and you simply couldn’t hope to meet a more thoughtful and talented individual. No matter what the event or the cause, you can be assured that she is there. She is a leader in our school and a true friend to many.”
The Huntington Blue Devil marching band’s field major, Ms. Morina was a mainstay on the varsity field hockey, winter and spring track teams.
Ms. Morina has compiled a sterling academic and co-curricular record at Huntington over the past four years. She intends to pursue a degree in chemistry at UMass Amherst.
“This year, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to present the Josten’s Leadership Scholarship to Rachel Morina,” Mr. Cusack said.
