“Nadeera Ali is just girl trying to find her place in the world,” is how the senior describes herself. But in reality, she is a powerhouse, exceling in every possible way as she pursues her interests with enthusiasm.

Ms. Ali has explored all aspects of Huntington High School and has taken advantage of all the opportunities it provides. One of the Blue Devil marching band’s drum majors in each of the past two years, she learned many valuable lessons and gained experiences through her leadership role.

A member of six separate academic honor societies, Ms. Ali led the high school’s Environmental Club and the Latin Honor Society chapter as president of both organizations. She has developed many meaningful connections with teachers and classmates along the way.

Ms. Ali said she gives a “tremendous thanks” to her close friends, Lauren Gennarelli, Cece Kye, Haileigh Smith, Rachel Morina and Sana Amin who have helped her in trying times.

The teenager credits many of her accomplishments to music department faculty members Brian Stellato and Jason Giachetti “for giving endless support throughout band and teaching me valuable lessons that she will stay with me as I move on to college.

Ms. Ali also credits teachers Lori Kenny and Deborah Beck for fueling her passion for science and research. They have pushed me to where I am today,” she said.

With thoughts of going into medicine in the future, Ms. Ali enrolled in Introduction to Laboratory Research at Johns Hopkins University last summer. To keep up with one of her passions, she took Art as Experience at Cornell University and created many beautiful pieces of art at the Ivy League school.

Performing with the high school’s wind and jazz ensembles and with the pit orchestra during the drama club’s spring musical has allowed the teenager further opportunities for creativity and to express herself. She has been a member of Huntington’s reinstated varsity bowling team in each of the past two seasons.

Ms. Ali will be attending Boston University’s Kilachand Honors College in the fall, majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology on the pre-health track. She intend to join the BU band and continue to find her place in the world.
