June 8, 2023

An enchanted evening of student performances thrilled the crowd filling the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School cafeteria last Friday night.

Co-hosted by Dylan Brinn and Jack Semelsberger and billed as Cabaret Night, the program featured an exceptional group of teenage voices and included 20 separate performances. The event raised funds for the choral program. Many in the crowd came an hour early and enjoyed dinner inside the building prior to the show.

Restaurants contributing delicious food dishes, desserts or refreshments included Parea’s, Tommy Tacos, Portofino, Jonny D’s, Carl’s Main Street Deli, Junior’s Pizzeria, La Hacienda, Hometown Bakeshop, 7-11, Arizona Beverage Company, Osaka, NY Panini, Wok and Roll and Caruso’s.

The evening’s performers included Emily Kustera and Samuel Soric, Lily Wasoski, Mia Molina-Baptista, Alexis Rodriguez, Walter Lopez Martinez, Jack Semelsberger, Isabella Lanfranco, Devon Elvir-Cover, Emma Gutierrez, Layna Abraham, Sofia Rodriguez, Dylan Brinn, Kyra Scott, Jake Amend, Michaela Dopico, Josie Sullivan, Giovanna Lanfranco, Liva Camarata, Katie Cocoman, Sofia Van Arsdale, Delia Caruso, David Chavez-Hernandez, Alexa Schirripa, Samuel James and Mack Brunner.

Teacher Victoria Garbarino, who leads Huntington choral program, provided musical direction throughout the show.

It was a perfect moment in time for the teenagers. “Dylan Brinn and Jack Semelsberger were absolutely marvelous co-hosts,” Ms. Garbarino said. “It’s simply impossible for me to decide which act was the best because each and every student who took the stage did nothing short of shine. It was a difficult night as well because many of my seniors who have been with me for a long time took the stage for their final performance with me. I’m so proud of everyone who performed and cannot thank the parents who helped with food donations and setting up the entire event enough. It takes a lot of people to put this event together and it turned out to be a wonderful night.”

Everyone seemed to love the show, especially the students themselves. No sooner had the show ended, than planning commenced on 2024’s Cabaret Night.
