July 24, 2023
Laurel Bonn and Anthony Annunziata are this year’s recipients of Huntington High School’s alumni cups. The duo completed magnificent four year runs which saw them excel in the classroom and in athletics for the Blue Devils.
The two large cups were formally presented at the senior scholarships and awards ceremony in the high school auditorium. Principal Brenden Cusack announced Ms. Bonn and Mr. Annunziata as this years’ recipients of the coveted cups.
“The alumni cups are often considered the culminating awards of the evening,” Mr. Cusack said. “This award is presented each year to two individuals who embody everything Huntington is all about. Helping one another, reaching out to the community, having stellar moral character even in the face of challenges are among the attributes of our two recipients this evening. The alumni cups are intended to signify the very best in character, scholarship, extracurricular activity and athleticism.”
Valedictorian of Huntington’s Class of 2023, Ms. Bonn is headed to the University of Georgia. She has been simply spectacular in every possible way throughout high school, capturing All-State honors in field hockey and garnering All-County and Academic All-American recognition in lacrosse.
Mr. Annunziata will be attending Yale University. He earned varsity letters in football, wrestling and lacrosse and was a National Football Foundation Golden 11 Award recipient. Quarterback of the Blue Devil gridiron team, he earned All-American honors this spring in lacrosse.
“Over the last four years, I have come to know our two award winners,” Mr. Cusack said. “They are truly deserving of this award. They truly represent the spirit and ideals of Huntington High School and our community.”
