Lead Your Legacy Scholarships Presented

July 5, 2023

Eight Huntington High School seniors have captured Lead Your Legacy scholarships, presented by Leaders of the New School, a non-profit whose mission is to develop programs that address the needs of youth from diverse backgrounds and family experiences.

The organization’s president, Amaru Jones announced this year’s recipients at the senior scholarships and awards ceremony in the high school auditorium before a crowd of about 300.

Each of the eight awards carried $250 stipends. Two awards were presented in each of four separate categories: academic, athletic, creative arts and vocational.

Winning academic awards were Brad Nisipeanu (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) and Sol Mayra Rodriguez-Arevalo (Binghamton University).

Capturing athletic awards were Michael Kline (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and Tyler Miles (Farmingdale State College).

Garnering creative arts awards were Isabella Lanfrano (Savannah College of Art & Design) and Koi Crowder (Molloy University).

Claiming vocational awards were Iris Alas Padilla (Suffolk Community College) and Dawin Preval (University of Massachusetts Boston).

Mr. Jones was joined at the presentation by Lead Your Legacy officials Kenny Charles and Randy Paul.

The honorees were thrilled to be chosen as this year’s scholarship recipients. All eight award winners have been standouts in their own particular way over the past four years, from athletics and academics to the arts and service fields.
