Flower Hill Primary School opened 2023 with a flourish. The school has long provided youngsters with a high quality education in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment that builds a foundation for life-long learning.

“Here at Flower Hill, we strive to provide a welcoming environment which creates a sense of belonging amongst the entire school community,” first year Principal Cindy Siegel said. “We empower all students to embrace learning, achieve their personal best and build their emotional and social well-being. Our school community is comprised of dedicated, highly-skilled and caring professionals that ensure that every student receive an educational experience that reflects their individual interests, learning styles and academic needs.”

Flower Hill has always recognized the partnerships that families play in their child’s academic success. “We believe that engaging families in school events and on-going communication will lead to our students reaching their fullest potential,” Ms. Siegel said.

The ParentSquare communication platform is used by teachers, the principal and the superintendent for weekly communication with families. In collaboration with Flower Hill’s PTA, there are many events that take place to further build this connection.

Monthly PTA meetings allow for a sharing ideas and for families to provide feedback to the school. This year’s events have included a “Welcome Back Block Party,” Halloween Bash and Winter Workshop. The Parents as Reading Partners initiative will kick-off in March.

Flower Hill’s traditions and annual events also include a harvest festival, Thanksgiving Day balloon parade, fiftieth and one hundredth day school-wide celebrations and STEM night. Coming soon will be a talent show, pasta night, camp out/book night and field day.

“Starting this February, we will be incorporating a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) program at Flower Hill,” Ms. Siegel said. “This program will include proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment. This will help to motivate our students to try their best and encourage other as well. Students will be given ‘Fox Funds’ when they exhibit the qualities of the ‘Flower Hill Fox Four,” – kind respectful, responsible and safe.” Students will be able to redeem their Fox Funds for prizes and special events.

“Flower Hill is an extraordinary school because of the incredible students, parents and staff who bring it to life each day,” Mrs. Siegel said. “Their energy, love and passion are so infectious and I am so grateful for all they do to make Flower Hill an awesome place to be.”
