Junior Jennifer Lopez Puts Best Effort into Everything

Jennifer Lopez has it all. The Huntington High School junior sports a near perfect academic grade average, excelling in three Advanced Placement classes and other challenging courses while participating in clubs and honor societies, working a part-time job and surrounding herself with loving family and friends.

“Two teachers that have made a huge difference for me during my time in Huntington would be Mrs. [Patricia] Avelli and Mr. [Nicholas] Wager,” Ms. Lopez said. “Mrs. Avelli is very understanding and she has been a very good teacher and Mr. Wagner has also been a very good teacher.”

The teenager is interested in accounting and finance. “My thoughts on career possibilities involve the mathematical field,” Ms. Lopez said.

The junior is known as a very responsible and hardworking students who always puts here best effort into everything she does.

“I always set goals for myself so I can be continuously be improving and becoming a better individual,” Ms. Lopez said. “My confidence in myself and those traits allow me to exceed my expectations. I like challenging myself since overcoming challenges makes me feel a sense of accomplishment.”

A member of the high school’s New World club, Ms. Lopez has been inducted into the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.

Ms. Lopez spent last summer working, spending time with her family and enjoying the warm weather.

“My experience at Huntington High School has been great,” Ms. Lopez said. “There are such great teachers. It’s such a great school with so many opportunities for each student.”

The teenager is taking classes in Advanced Placement US History, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Seminar, Pre-Calculus Honors, Introduction to Statistics and Physics.

“My favorite is Pre-Calculus Honors since at times it feels challenging,” Ms. Lopez said. “I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes along with overcoming the challenges.”

Ms. Lopez is excelling academically. She compiled a grade average in excess of 98.4 in the second marking period. “In ten years, I hope to be satisfied with the [college] major that I choose,” she said.
