Senior Victoria Befumo in Art League’s Go APE Exhibit

February 10, 2023

Huntington senior Victoria Befumo is participating in The Art League of Long Island’s 16th annual Go APE Advanced Placement student exhibition, which features 2-D and 3-D works by 137 AP and IB Art Students from 40 Long Island high schools.

High school art teachers selected artworks from among their talented students. The exhibit is on view in the Art League of Long Island’s Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery through February 18.

“Victoria is one of the most creative and talented students that I have in my classes,” said Pamela Piffard, the high school’s photography teacher. “Victoria is always working on cultivating her own personal style. She has taken Intro to Photo, Advanced Photo, Photo Internship (w/Darin Reed) and Advanced Placement 2D Design. She is currently working on a series of images that depict superstitions that showcase her talent and vision. Victoria is very dedicated to being the very best artist she can be. She has confidence in her abilities and has a love for art. It is nice to see Victoria putting her talents to use to get such great results.”

The Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit visual arts education center dedicated to broad-based visual arts education, providing a forum and showcase for artists of all ages and ability levels. Since its inception in 1955, the mission has focused on enhancing Long Island’s cultural life by promoting the appreciation, practice and enjoyment of the visual arts.

Over 65 years ago, a small group of artists gathered to study and paint together. The magic vision that was created continues today. The Art League of Long Island is the oldest and largest non-profit visual arts organization of its kind on Long Island, serving 155 towns and villages year-round.
