Blue Devils Runner-up in County Large School Championships

Huntington senior Kender Edouazin came from behind to win the 600m run at the Section XI large school county boys’ winter track and field championships at Suffolk-West on Sunday. The Blue Devils placed second in the team standings, trailing only Connetquot.

Edouazin ran a great race, staying in close pursuit of Bay Shore senior Anthony Belford before surging on the final lap and crossing the finish line first in 1:24.37. Blue Devil junior Jahmar Francis was third in 1:25.25.

Matteo Armstrong also turned in another spectacular day, winning the 1000m run in 2:35.78 and placing second in the 3200m run in 9:36.63.

Edouazin, Francis and Armstrong later teamed up with senior Nikolai Seferian to easily win the 4x400m in 3:30.53.

Junior Nikolai Lulewich placed fourth in high jump after clearing 5-10 feet. Sophomore Johan Fajardo was seventh in the event with a leap of 5-06 feet.

The Section XI state championships qualifier is set for Monday, February 13 at 5 p.m. The NYSPHSAA championships will be held on Saturday, March 4 at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex at Staten Island.

Huntington’s 4x400 relay will run in the Millrose Game finals on Saturday (February 11). The Blue Devils finished first in the qualifying race on January 11.
