Spring Adult & Continuing Ed Program on Tap

The Huntington School District’s adult and continuing education program’s spring brochure of classes and workshops is now available. Copies have been mailed to residents and the brochure is also available on the district’s website.

Spring classes begin the week of Monday, February 27. Online registration and payment is available now by logging onto https://bit.ly/3s80Ptj. Once on the page of class listings, you can use filters to narrow the display of courses to specific days of the week.

Click on View Details on any class and additional information will be displayed along with an opportunity to register. Once registration information has been entered and is complete you can choose to Buy Now or Add to Basket and return to the class offerings page and select one or more additional courses. You also have an option of creating a My School Bucks account to checkout or you can just checkout as a guest.

Courses run for eight week blocks, unless otherwise indicated in the fall bulletin. The district has been offering the community and adult education program since the mid-1950s.

Spring semester courses include Basketball for Men, Belly Dance, Ceramics, Crochet, Drawing and Sketching, Financial Workshop, French Travel, Hatha Yoga, How to Work with Google Drive, Intermediate Italian, Introduction to Computers Using Microsoft Office, Knitting, Microsoft Office Advanced, Pickleball, Photography, Soccer for Men (indoor), Small Business Administrative Help, Beginner Spanish, Intermediate/Advanced Spanish, Stretch and Tone with Essentrics, Tai Chi Chi Kung, Watercolor and Zumba Gold.

Seminars/Food for Thought include Navigating the Medicare Landscape, Savvy IRA Planning for Baby Boomers and Social Security Planning.

There are also courses offered through Western Suffolk BOCES, including Adult Basic Education (GED) and classes in English as a Second Language.

Regular course fees are set at $20 for those residents aged 60 or over (except for those classes marked limited or no senior district), $60 for other district residents and $70 for those living outside the Huntington School District. Fees can vary based on the specific course and the duration of the class. (One day seminars can run as little as $10 for residents or $15 per couple.)

Course and seminar sites include Huntington High School, Woodhull Intermediate School, Jefferson Primary School and Southdown Primary School. Specific locations for individual offerings can be found in the program brochure.

The adult and continuing education program is self-sustaining. It is conducted primarily for adults in the community, but is open to those as young as 16 years of age wherever space exists, with the exception of basketball and where otherwise indicated.

Scroll down to Adult Education Important Documents. Select Spring Programs. The brochure is posted there and is available for download on demand.
