August 23, 2023

Samuel James has been a star of the stage for many years. The Huntington High School Class of 2023 member has been a top vocalist and stage performer, shining at concerts, plays and musicals and at a variety of special school and district events.

Mr. James has the creativity and flair of a seasoned performer. He has a way of connecting with his audience. He comes off as having the time of his life and his charisma and magnetism is contagious.

At this past spring’s senior departmental awards and scholarships ceremony, high school music teacher Dr. Jason Giachetti presented Mr. James with the National School Choral Award, which carries with it a $300 stipend.

The National School Choral Award is the highest honor for high school choral performers across the country. It recognizes the dedication and musical achievement of the top choral students.

A Tri-M Music Honor Society member, Mr. James showed promise with the Blue Devil varsity track team. His older brother and youngest sister have both been track and field stars for Huntington. But Mr. James decided to dedicate himself to the performing arts and he has made the most of his decision over the years.

Mr. James plans to continue his study of the performing arts at CUNY Queens College, which has one of the most outstanding programs in the metropolitan area.

The teenager’s gregarious nature and bright smile is sure to win over a new set of audiences as Mr. James moves on to the next chapter of his life.
