President of Veggies for Veterans and an organizer of annual tennis fundraisers for Pink Aid Long Island, Ms. Young is this year’s Huntington recipient of the Suffolk County Executive’s Award for Public Service. She was recognized at the high school’s senior departmental awards and scholarships ceremony.

Huntington Principal Brenden Cusack presented the award to Ms. Young on behalf of County Executive Steven Bellone. The teenager played on the Blue Devil varsity tennis and golf teams.

An Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor, Ms. Young said she owes her success to stepping out of her comfort zone and being open to new experiences. Inducted into seven different academic honor societies, the teenager captured the designation of Distinguished Senior.

Ms. Young was a Natural Helper, confidentially assisting classmates as they worked through difficult personal situations. She volunteered with the high school’s Habitat for Humanity chapter. She especially enjoyed the friendships she developed through those experiences and the memories she created because of them.

President of the English Honor Society and a contributor of the yearbook, Ms. Young is naturally upbeat and altogether positive. Her smile is radiant and she is highly regarded by classmates and respected by her teachers.
