Emma Glascock is an adventurous soul. The Huntington High School Class of 2023 member plans to attend college in Europe at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and study linguistics.

“After visiting prospective schools in February, Edinburgh just clicked with me so much more than the others,” Ms. Glascock said. “I visited Edinburgh in 2017 so it had a sense of familiarity to it, but it came down to just being the perfect combination of everything I was looking for while weighing my options of studying abroad for college. Its city is ridiculously beautiful and has a great social scene, but it is also well academically regarded. The school itself is ranked fourth in the world for linguistics.

An Advanced Placement Scholar and member of six separate academic honor societies, Ms. Glascock credits staying on top of her assignments as the key to her success. A Blue Devil marching band member throughout high school, she was the brass captain and trumpet section leader for two years.

“I have a wide range of interests and initially thought I would go to college for something related to politics,” Ms. Glascock said. “After junior year I took much more of an interest in language through analyzing poetry in Mrs. [Kristin] Fortunato’s Latin class.”

Most of the highlights of her high school years revolve around Huntington’s music program and her work with faculty members Brian Stellato, Dr. Jason Giachetti and Andre Rizzuto. “I was in marching band for six years and it’ll definitely be really weird when fall rolls around and I’m not at competitions every weekend,” Ms. Glascock said. “On the academic side one of my favorite classes I took in high school was AP US Government and Politics with Economics with Mrs. [Sarah] Buchalter.”

An award recipient in the National History Day contest for her historical essay, Ms. Glascock captured the designation of Distinguished Senior for her spectacular academic grade average during every semester of high school.

“I could not have asked to attend any other high school,” Ms. Glascock said. “From being able to participate in music to being able to intern for Mr. [Kenneth] Donovan my senior year, I feel extremely lucky for all that it has to offer. I will miss it a lot.”
