Blue Devil Girls’ Soccer Welcomes Players

All-League senior goalkeeper Reese Rinaldi will lead the Huntington varsity girls’ soccer team into the fall season. The Blue Devils are inviting new players to try-out for the JV and varsity teams. Practice commences on Monday, August 21 at the Manor Park turf field at 7:30 a.m.

The Blue Devil varsity will return ninth grader Ava McDonald; sophomores Ruby Hoffman, Cameron Smith and Jolie Weinschreider; juniors Jamie Garcia Sorto, Kaylee Smalling and Devon St. John; and seniors Veronica Cocoman, Katherine Estrada-Morales, Emersen Evans, Yuliana Hernandez-Perla, Jessica Maixner, Caroline McGreevy, Lily Mitek, Riley Murtagh and Reese Rinaldi.

John Walsh will return as varsity head coach. He will be assisted by Vincent Tannazzo. Maria Canino will coach the JV team. New players are welcome to try-out for the high school program.

Interested in playing for the Blue Devils? Girls’ soccer players are asked to report to the high school nurse’s office on Friday, August 18 at 10 a.m. to get cleared/requalified for the fall season. Players need to have had a physical exam within the past 12 months.

Those who would like to get a physical exam performed by the school doctor can go to the nurse’s office on Thursday, August 17 at 9 a.m.

Checklist for Tryouts:

All students must be requalified prior to tryouts for each sports season. The following two forms are to be submitted to the school nurse on one of the listed requalification dates.

1. Required NYS Health Examination Form (click for link)

Physical exams can be performed by private doctor or school doctor and are valid for one year.

2. Interval Health History for Sports Participation (English/Spanish) (click for link)

A new form is required for each season; must be completed by parent/guardian, signed in ink and dated within 30 days of the start of the season (July 23, 2023 or later).
