Huntington’s Tom Girimonti Sails into Senior Year
September 29, 2023
Tom Girimonti tries to go with the flow and not get too high or too low over anything.
The Huntington High School senior keeps his composure regardless of the situation. He strives to see curves in life through a mature lens while still making sure he enjoys every minute of every day.
President of the Blue Devil Varsity Club, Mr. Girimonti played on the varsity golf, basketball and lacrosse teams. He’s well known for giving his all to his teammates and coaches. The teenager starts on all three squads and he’s determined to go out a winner this year.
“I am taking four Advanced Placement courses in calculus ab, macroeconomics, microeconomics and physics,” Mr. Girimonti said. “I’m really excited for this lacrosse season. I think we have a great group of guys this year that have what it takes.”
Right now, Mr. Girimonti is sinking putts for the Huntington golf team, which has enjoyed a blazing start to the season. He enjoys the sport and has a productive relationship with Blue Devil head coach Michael Marinello.
Likewise in basketball, Mr. Girimonti will be a key figure on the court for head coach Peter Lipka. The Blue Devils will field a team that is still in the building stage, but the senior will be looked upon on both ends of the court to produce as well as to motivate and inspire the younger players and set an example of the work ethic required of a varsity athlete.
Mr. Girimonti is especially happy on a lacrosse field. Simply put, he loves the sport and he’s put an awful lot into improving his skills over the year.
“I am looking forward to working with Coach [Julian] Watts and the lacrosse coaching staff to have another successful season,” the teenager said.
Mr. Girimonti spent last summer traveling, playing lacrosse and working as a head dock master at the Bay Club.
“My experience at Huntington High School has been nothing but great so far,: Mr. Girimonti said. “I love all my friends and have had great teachers for every class. I am committed to Wesleyan University to continue my academic and lacrosse careers. I plan on studying in the economics field.”
