Huntington Booster Club Suits Up

September 28, 2023

The Huntington Booster Club is in full swing, operating a concession at various events, supporting grant requests from coaches, selling field banners that are affixed to the fencing surrounding Blue Devil Stadium and organizing a fundraising party at The Paramount that’s set for November 11.

The legendary Bogmen are headlining the Booster Club's November 11 concert fundraiser.

The organization is led by President Dave Evans. The group also includes Wayne Ackerman (treasurer), Frank Rinaldi (legal/insurance), Sharon Bilkey (grant coordinator; merchandise), Susan Fallon (secretary), Bridget Vohs (special projects and events; summer camps), Sarah Nicotra (concessions), Diane St. John (concessions), Meredith Hassett (merchandise), Meredith Larson (merchandise) and Erik Larson (marketing; social media).

Associate members include Scott Mitek, Tom Galvin, Tom Carlson and Steve DiGioia. The organization holds regular meetings at Huntington High School.

“Over the last 15 years many committed volunteers have worked to make the Huntington Booster Club a positive force,” Mr. Evans said. “The primary purpose of the organization is to support the student athletes at Huntington High School and J. Taylor Finley Middle School. Toward this end, the group has strived to assist all of our school district’s sports teams, coaches and student athletes.”

Stadium Banners

The Huntington Booster Club is adding color to Blue Devil Stadium by making family and corporate field banners available for purchase. Dozens of banners are already affixed to the fencing surrounding the track that circles the turf playing surface. Photos of each banner also run on a loop on the video screens in the high school gym lobby.

The high quality navy blue vinyl banners measure 9x4 feet and feature white lettering. Depending on when the banner is purchased, it will be displayed for one year.

Family banners sell for $250 for one year or $600 for three years. Corporate banners are offered for sale at $300 for one year or $750 for three years. Families and teams can combine to purchase a banner.

Those purchasing a banner can list three lines of text. The first two lines can consist of 25 characters per line with a third line maximum of 50 characters. (There is no requirement that all three lines of text be used.)

Mail a check payable to the Huntington Booster Club and mail to: 166 Clinton Ave, Huntington, NY 11743. An order form can be found on the club’s website at www.huntingtonboosterclub.com. Questions? Send a message to Mr. Evans at devans17@gmail.com or 631.942.4394.

Many alumni have purchased banners. There are banners commemorating Blue Devil sports feats and legendary coaches. Each person has their own individual reason for purchasing a field banner.

“The Booster Club has successfully raised nearly $1.5 million, which has been used for many purposes from funding grants requested by individual coaches to enhancing the interscholastic athletic and physical education programs for grades 7-12,” Mr. Evans said. “The Booster Club has brightened up many of the high school fields with Blue Devil graphics and provided scoreboards at fields.”

Booster Club Party at The Paramount

The Booster Club will hold a fundraising party at The Paramount on Saturday, November 11. The evening will honor Huntington alum Greg Kline and include food, drinks and a concert by The Bogmen.

The doors open at 6 p.m. for an exclusive “sound check” hour. A very special Blue Devil film will be viewed in the run-up to the concert. At 8 p.m. the main stage will light up with the legendary Bogmen, who are set to deliver an unforgettable performance.

Tickets are limited. To purchase tickets, visit the Booster Club’s concert website at https://huntingtonbenefitconcert.com
