Blue Devils Begin Announcing Intramurals

Blue Devil winter and spring athletic teams have begun announcing pre-season intramural activities. They are free and open to any Huntington student in the designated grade.

These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sports of boys’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ fencing, girls’ wrestling and boys’ lacrosse. Attendance at all sessions is not required Participate when it is convenient.

Additional intramural programs are expected to be announced soon.

Boys’ Basketball

Boys’ basketball intramurals are being held for students in grades 9-12 on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School gym. For more information contact coach Peter Lipka at 203.687.6084.

Boys’ and Girls’ Fencing

Boys’ and girls’ fencing intramurals will be held for students in grades 7-12 on Tuesday evenings beginning October 3 and running through October 31 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School gym. Participants should bring a water bottle and come dressed (sweatpants – no shorts) to condition and fence. Girls’ Wrestling

Girls’ wrestling intramurals will be held for students in grades 9-12 on Tuesdays, October 3 10, 17, 24 and 31 and Thursday, November 9 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Huntington High School wrestling room. Explore offensive, defensive and special skills as individual interest dictates. For more information contact coach Maria Canino at mcanino@hufsd.edu.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Boys’ lacrosse intramurals will be held for students in grades 9-12 on Tuesday and Thursdays beginning November 2 and running through November 28 from 4:15-6:00 p.m. on one of the outdoor turf fields. Explore offensive, defensive and special team skills as individual interest dictates. In case of inclement weather, that day’s intramural session might be held in the gym or be cancelled.
