Junior Alexa Schirripa is Loving Life at Huntington

Alexa Schirripa has become one of the mainstays in the Huntington High School drama club, but there’s a lot more to the junior than performing on stage, although she really does love being under the bright lights.

The new school year is off to a great start for Ms. Schirripa. “Some of the courses that I am looking forward to are my Advanced Placement classes this year,” she said. “I took one AP course last year with AP World History and I felt the class helped me elevate my learning skills. I look forward to becoming an even better student this year.”

The teenager plans to once again fully embrace the drama club and participate in its fall and spring productions. “I have been doing it since freshman year and it’s made me who I am, through the community and learning opportunities and the experience as a whole,” Ms. Schirripa said.

The junior said she spent the recent summer improving upon her “favorite hobby,” which is cooking. “I tried new recipes, perfected existing ones and widened my horizons to new things,” Ms. Schirripa said. “I also created closer bonds with my best friends and made sure that this summer was one that would be remembered.”

As she goes about her daily routine, Ms. Schirripa is happy. “My experience at Huntington High School so far has been amazing,” she said. “I’ve found new friends and reconnected with old ones, met so many amazing teachers that have supported me through each and every one of my accomplishments. Like anyone, I’ve had my ups and downs, but Huntington has taught me how to learn and be the best version of myself.”

Ms. Schirripa said one possible career that has “especially piqued” her interest is that of food scientist. “Science has always been my favorite subject and this field is a perfect combination of my favorite subject and favorite interest,” she said. “I hope one day I can fulfill my career dreams.”
