A positive aura seems to surround Ms. O’Toole and she makes her way around the high school on any given day. She’s a sincere, hardworking teenager with an impressive intellect and wonderful sense of humor.
“This year I am looking forward to all of my classes, especially Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, AP Computer Science Principles and AP United States History and I am most excited about AP Chemistry,” Ms. O’Toole said. “Last year, I took Regents Chemistry and I really enjoyed the class. I found it really interesting so I am excited to further my understanding of the subject. I am also looking forward to getting back to all the clubs that I love, such as drama club and acapella.”
Ms. O’Toole is already the veteran of four high school stage productions and she cannot wait for a new round of them. “I am really looking forward to the play and the musical this year,” she said. “They are always my favorite part of the year. Working with my friends and Mr. [Michael] Schwendemann is always such a rewarding and fun experience.”
The teenager kept busy over the past summer. “I volunteered at the SCOPE summer camp for the arts at the high school,” Ms. O’Toole said. “I love working with children and I find that I have learned so much from my experiences. I also kept busy while working at Ben and Jerry’s, where I have learned so much about working with a team. For school, I completed various summer assignments, which will help me be successful in the new school year.”
Ms. O’Toole earns excellent grades and is very highly regarded by Huntington faculty corps as well as her classmates.
“My experience at Huntington High School has been absolutely incredible,” Ms. O’Toole said. “I have had so many great opportunities that I would not be able to have had anywhere else. I have had so many great teachers over the past two years who have really helped me achieve my goals.”
Ms. O’Toole has recently been considering a career in medicine; more specifically in surgery or anesthesiology. “Medicine has always interested me and I really want to pursue it in the future,” she said.
