Huntington’s Emily Kustera Dives into Junior Year

September 13, 2023

Junior Emily Kustera gave retiring Superintendent James W. Polansky a memorable sendoff when she collaborated with Michael Zigon on an incredible performance at the August 29 Huntington School Board meeting.

With Ms. Kustera on piano and vocals and Mr. Zigon on guitar and backup vocals, Mr. Polansky was moved to tears by the haunting and emotional filled performance that won’t be soon forgotten. The multi-talented teenager loves singing and performing and she’s earned quite a reputation around Huntington High School for being one of the best.

Co-president of the Latin Honor Society and vice president of Huntington’s Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter, Ms. Kustera said she plans to participate in the drama club’s fall play and spring musical as well as other performance opportunities, including Cabaret Night and Acoustic Night.

Ms. Kustera fits in perfectly well with her classmates, especially the artistic set that is so highly esteemed by all the students and teachers. But beyond that, she is a great student, too.

“I have a love for science and math so I’m looking forward to taking more classes based around those subjects such as Advanced Placement Chemistry and AP Computer Science Principles,” Ms. Kustera said.

The teenager is full of ideas to make the high school a better place for current and future students. “My experience at Huntington High School has been so great,” Ms. Kustera said. “I have gotten close with so many great friends and have worked with amazing teachers.”

Ms. Kustera future career plans have yet to come into focus. “This past summer I toured Boston College and loved it so it’s definitely a college I’m considering,” she said.
