Will Fallon Captures Conference I Golf Crown

Huntington junior Will Fallon captured the Section XI Conference I golf championship on Tuesday at Spring Lake Golf Club in Middle Island. The Blue Devils finished fourth in a field of 12 in the team standings.

Fallon shot a 74 to best the field of 72 golfers from Leagues I and II and qualify for the county tournament. Huntington’s Declan Kehoe (79) and Nick Sclafani (85) are also moving on to the Suffolk finals.

Fallon was simply magnificent, recording five birdies en route to the conference title. “I am very proud of Will,” Huntington head coach Michael Marinello said. “This was a talented field and for him to come out on top solidifies his status as one of the top players in the state.”

The individual county tournament is set for next Monday and Tuesday, October 23-24 at Spring Lake. The top 24 finishers will earn All-County honors. The top nine golfers in the county meet with represent Suffolk at the state tournament next spring.

Huntington is also readying for the match-play team tournament. Marinello is hopeful that the Blue Devils’ 10-0 regular season record will result in a high seed in the county bracket.
