The Huntington boys’ soccer team rallied for three second half goals by Jerson Contreras, Carlos Marroquin and Jonathan Morales on three assists by Carlos Gutierrez to topple visiting West Islip on Senior Day at Blue Devil Stadium, 3-0.

The deluge of goals delighted a crowd of 250 and allowed Huntington to wrap-up the regular season with an overall mark of 13-2-1 (10-1-1 in league play). The Blue Devils are ranked No. 10 in the state in the latest New York State Sportswriters Assn. poll.

Huntington had some chances against West Islip early, but couldn’t convert any of them. So the Blue Devils turned to the defense, which responded in spectacular fashion. Goalie Dylan Hayden stopped four shots to record another shutout in the net.

During a pre-game ceremony, the Blue Devils honored 15 seniors, many of which were escorted out to the field by their parents and siblings. Head coach John Pagano announced the name of each player and assistant coach Jason Suarez presented the players with flowers, which they in turn gave to their families.

The seniors include Yovanni Rivera, Dante Salgado, Jose Flores Flores, Alan Wilberger, Orlando Chinchilla, Bryan Lizama, Dylan Hayden, Cruz Flores, Edwin Marroquin, Nikolai Lulewich, Andrew Castillo, Carlos Gutierrez, Harry Alba, Eddie Canales and Irvin Soriano.

The festivities included photo posters that commemorated the career of each of the seniors being affixed to the Blue Devil Stadium facade. Principal Brenden Cusack was among the fans in the crowd.
