Blue Devil Field Hockey Celebrates Senior Day
October 13, 2023
The Huntington varsity field hockey team celebrated Senior Day at Blue Devil Stadium this week, recognizing 11 players who have been with the program for as many as six years.
The stadium façade was decorated with banners emblazoned with the names and numbers of each player along with photo posters commemorating the career of each respective Blue Devil.
The pre-game ceremony saw Huntington head coach Kathy Wright speak about each player over the public address system and along with assistant coach Allison Conlon, present them with flowers and gift bags.
Players marched out to the field accompanied by their parents or family members where they gathered for a series of photos.
The seniors included Landry Flynn, Abigail Hopson, Sophie Lange, Megan Lewis, Ella O’Heir, Jordana Paniccia, Olivia Polinsky, Hannah Song, Elizabeth Stair, Renee Tetrault and Brooke Parks.
The seniors have given their all to the Blue Devil field hockey program with many first suiting up as seventh graders with the team at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. While the team has struggled this year, all of the seniors participated in last fall’s extremely successful campaign that saw Huntington reach the Suffolk Final Four playoff round.
Following the Senior Day game, players, parents and coaches retired to the field hockey area where an extensive buffet was arranged on six-foot long tables. A celebratory party included many tasty dishes and a variety of refreshments.
