Senior Chloe Hunt Loves All Things Music

October 13, 2023

Chloe Hunt loves all things music. The Huntington High School senior has embraced the district’s music program, including all of its offshoots along with its teachers and her fellow musicians, singers and actors in the drama club’s musical productions.

The teenager plans to participate in the high school’s Natural Helpers program, where she will work confidentially with classmates who are grappling with personal and family challenges. Ms. Hunt sings with the chamber choir, writes for The Dispatch student newspaper, volunteers with the high school’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Ms. Hunt is engaged in a credit bearing internship with high school music teacher Victoria Garbarino, who directs the various choirs. She also plays cello in Huntington’s symphony orchestra.

“I’m really excited about my internship because I get to teach the concert choir and conduct for concerts,” Ms. Hunt said. “Teaching music has been so fun for me to do and I really enjoy it. I’m really excited about the spring musical this year and can’t wait to work with all the people who is involved with it.”

Ms. Hunt was in the ensemble for last year’s spring drama club production of Seussical. It marked her first show, but it won’t be her last. She loves singing and dancing and show brought her out of her “bubble.”

“My Huntington experience has been interesting and I’ve enjoyed the memories I have made with people that I know will be lifelong friends,” Ms. Hunt said. “I love working with teachers and administrators and seeing that I can really make my mark on this school. Being at this high school has been a rollercoaster, but I’m so excited to move on to the next chapter of my life in college and flourish and grow and explore.”

Ms. Hunt spent last summer working most days at a local hair salon and beginning the college application process. She spent time with friends who graduated in June before they left for college and she “enjoyed every moment of it,” she said.

“In about four weeks I’m applying to my dream colleges for next fall,” Ms. Hunt said. “I would love to be majoring in music and journalism. My dream is to write for magazines or articles about the thing I love the most; music. My dream school since I was 12 has been New York University, but I am also applying to Berklee College of Music, Fordham University, Ithaca College, Louisiana State University, Emerson College and the University of Delaware.”
