Blue Devil Boys Improve to 12-2-1

October 12, 2023

The Blue Devil boys’ soccer team is on a tear. Huntington topped Deer Park on Tuesday afternoon, 3-0 to improve to 12-2-1 with one game remaining in the regular season.

All three of Huntington’s goals came in the first half. Carlos Gutierrez (14 goals; 4 assists) tallied a goal and an assist. Jerson Contreras (3g; 1a) and Jonathan Morales (4g; 3a) also scored goals. Bryan Lizama (7g; 7a) and Carlos Marroquin (1g; 4a) picked up assists. Goalie Dylan Hayden made four saves and recorded the shutout.

Huntington has overcome injuries to become one of the top teams in the state this fall. Just how far they can go in the playoffs still remains to be seen. But head coach John Pagano believes anything is possible with these Blue Devils who have shown they are very hard to beat when they play up to their potential.

Huntington will honor its 15 seniors on Thursday during a pre-game ceremony and again at a post-game party in the school cafeteria.

The Blue Devil seniors include Bryan Lizama, Yovanni Rivera, Dante Salgado, Jose Flores Flores, Alan Wilberger, Orlando Chinchilla, Dylan Hayden, Cruz Flores, Edwin Marroquin, Nikolai Lulewich, Andrew Castillo, Carlos Gutierrez, Harry Alba, Eddie Canales and Irvin Soriano.

West Islip will visit Blue Devil Stadium on Thursday. Huntington is not looking to take its collective foot off the pedal. Pagano will speak about each player beginning at 4 p.m. Once the game ends, players, coaches and parents will all head inside for a Senior Day party and more companionship.
