Huntington High School to Host Mini-College Fair

October 12, 2023

Next week’s mini college fair will bring as many as 54 colleges to the gym at Huntington High School. Junior and seniors will be invited to stroll through the fair, speak with representatives and obtain information and printed materials.

“The North Shore College Consortium hosts the mini college fair twice per year, once in the fall and then again in the spring,” explained Bernadette Walsh, Huntington High School’s college counselor. “The college participating travel to three north shore high schools every day throughout the week, Monday through Thursday.”

The consortium includes Huntington, Walt Whitman High School, Half Hollow Hills High School East, Half Hollow Hills High School West, Commack High School, Kings Park High School, Hauppauge High School, Harborfields High School, John H. Glenn High School, Smithtown High School East and Smithtown High School West.

“This fall, we have as many as 54 reps participating in the fair,” Mrs. Walsh said. “The reps are from colleges across the country; some local and others as far away as South Carolina and Florida. The fall fair is open to juniors and seniors. The spring fair is open mainly to juniors, but of course a senior can attend if they really need to although most seniors are set by that point and have all of their applications submitted.”

Huntington High School has participated in the consortium for over 20 years.
