Woodhull’s Podcast Club Returns
October 12, 2023
Woodhull Intermediate School podcast club is back for a third year. Fifth and sixth graders have been working on producing the first podcast of 2023/24. The year’s first show will debut in about two weeks.
Teacher Rosemarie Rivera is the club’s faculty advisor. She has been working with students on the podcast’s content and organization. The club was originally created to provide a means for students to express their opinions and as a venue for the youngsters to share concerns, happenings and ideas.
The podcast will also encourage student participation in Woodhull events to help generate school spirit. A cross section of students from the fifth and sixth grades is participating in this year’s club.
Here’s how the dictionary defines the term podcast: “A digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers automatically.”
Woodhull podcast staff members fall into a variety of categories, including news reporters, interview/game hosts, discuss team members and producers among other job titles.
“This year, we hope to bring the podcast closers to a true podcast format,” Ms. Rivera said. “Students will come to the discussion table prepared with research that supports a viewpoint or specific role in the overall discussion. This will allow students to present more authentic conversations for their peers and members of the Huntington UFSD community.
