Huntington previously topped John H. Glenn (8-1 and 9-0), Commack (9-0 and 6-3), Half Hollow Hills West (8-1) and Hills East (6-3).

Huntington head coach Michael Marinello is determined to get the Blue Devils into the elite circle of Suffolk high school teams. Bob Colvin is the team’s volunteer assistant coach.

Huntington is captained by Nicholas Sclafani and William Fallon. Both have been integral to the Blue Devils’ success to date. The roster also includes Jack Corcoran Chase Gadaire, Tom Girimonti, Declan Kehoe, Brady LaCosta, George Mueger and Jake Severine.

The team’s home course is the Huntington Crescent Club. It utilizes a driving range facility in Syosset. On rainy days it practices indoors at the high school using virtual simulators and other training equipment.

On Tuesday afternoon, Huntington shot a season low 194 against a very good Hills East team, which is widely known for its competitive spirit and skill. The significance of the match wasn’t lost on either team as the high stakes battle played out.

The Blue Devils exceeded expectations with standout performances from multiple players, including Girimonti’s one over par 37, which set the tone for the day. Fallon and Gadaire each carded a two over par 38. Severine’s precision was on display with a round of 40. Kehoe and Sclafani were both exceptional with scores of 41 and 43, respectively. “These stellar performances highlighted the depth and talent of our team,” Marinello said.

Huntington is striving for an undefeated league championship season. Hills East stood as a major obstacle to this goal. “We knew that we had a very tough opponent in Hills East,” Marinello said. “Our team really rose to the occasion. Every player showed their toughness. That’s what it takes to win in a big spot.”

The Blue Devils are looking forward to wrapping up league play and moving on to make a statement in the county tournament against Suffolk’s best.
