Woodhull SDM Committee Sets School Goals

The Woodhull Intermediate School Shared Decision Making Committee has approved a pair of school based team goals for the 2023/24 school. Principal Stephanie Campbell along with committee members, faculty and support staff will oversee implementation of the goals.
Goal No. 1
The Woodhull Shared Decision Making Committee recognizes a need to provide multicultural learning opportunities for students which will provide them with a variety of unique experiences and expose them to multiple perspectives.
Action Plan
• We will identify guest speakers, assemblies, field trips, etc. to provide our students with a variety of experiences.
• We will create bulletin board displays to represent the students within our building.
• We will plan and implement Career Day to provide students with an opportunity to learn about a variety of careers and pathways to pursue.
• We will continue to develop our outdoor learning space to create learning experiences for our students.
• We will create/purchase vinyl letters to write “Welcome” in various languages outside the main office.
• We will conduct a multi-cultural night for families and students.
• We will conduct a “paint night” highlighting an artist or style of artwork.
• Our school librarian will share a monthly read aloud book which represents different cultures and perspectives.
Goal No. 2
The Woodhull Shared Decision Making Committee recognizes the need to support the social and emotional needs of our students. We will support these needs through instruction, mentoring and guidance.
Action Plan
• The guidance counselor will conduct SEL survey to identify the needs of our student population.
• We will identify programs, guest speakers, assemblies, etc. to address the social and emotional needs of our students at each grade level.
• Huntington High School A World of Difference (AWOD) club members will conduct an SEL program for fifth graders.
• All teachers will receive training in restorative circles, which will be implemented in all classrooms by June 2024.
• We will expand the Woodhull mentor program to support a larger number of students in our school community.
• Staff meetings will continue to focus on how to incorporate social and emotional learning topics into academic lessons
