Burlington Stores Donates to Huntington UFSD Kids
November 9, 2023
To help celebrate the opening of its new store in the Big H shopping Center, Burlington has donated $5,000 to Washington Primary School through its corporate partner, Adopt A Classroom. Huntington School Board members accepted the donation at its recent public meeting.
The funds will be divided equally among the school’s full-time teachers to purchase classroom materials in the Adopt A Classroom online vendor marketplace.
Burlington will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday at 8:45 a.m. with the store officially opening at 9 a.m.
Off-price retailer Burlington has leased 25,442 square feet of space at the New York Avenue center, making it a significant addition to the retail landscape in the area. It will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Marshalls, which has moved to a larger 27,357-square-foot space next to the new ShopRite supermarket. This recent development is a part of the ongoing $31 million renovation by Urban Edge, the owner of the Big H.
“Funds donated through our platform are awarded as a credit on AdoptAClassroom.org and can only be spent on classroom materials through AdoptAClassroom.org,” the organization is a letter to Huntington Superintendent Christian Bowen. “Teachers will not receive a check or cash. The funds will be made available online to teachers following a check presentation event in November.”
The online marketplace features about 20 school and office supply vendors, including Staples, Scholastic and Lakeshore Learning.
