Bryan Lizama Leads Blue Devils Into Battle
November 2, 2023
Bryan Lizama is just one player on a team of great athletes, but the Huntington High School senior’s leadership and spectacular skills are simply irreplaceable. The teenager will lead the Blue Devil boys’ soccer into today’s county championship against Smithtown West at Patchogue-Medford at 3 p.m.
Lizama is an exquisitely talented soccer player. He’s in the best shape of his life and the multitude of skills he possesses makes him one of the most dangerous players in the county and state. He can score from anywhere on the field, but he’s a great playmaker, too. Defensively, he is one of the best.
This fall, Lizama seems to be on a mission. Game after game he plays all-out, racing up and down the field and from sideline to sideline. He has been unstoppable.
Coaches John Pagano, Jason Suarez and Jose Alfaro will be counting on Lizama to play hard, like
“What’s motivating me is the dream the ‘little me’ has had for years now,” Lizama said. “I have been playing this sport for 14 years and ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to win a championship with my school team. It is always an honor to represent my hometown on the soccer field. This year has felt different among the others. My passion grew even stronger knowing that this will be my last year with the word ‘Huntington’ and my number written across my chest. I made a promise to bring gold one day to Huntington and a lot of people are looking up to me on keeping that promise. The people, the team, the coaches, our family-like bonding is what keeps me going. I do it for them. And how Coach Suarez has always told me since I arrived on the team as a freshman, ‘It is more than soccer,’”
Win, lose or draw the Blue Devils know that Lizama will give 100 percent. He always does.
