Family Engagement Night Jack Abrams School

Family Engagement Night at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School featured an evening of art coordinated by veteran faculty member Todd Hiscox.

“Spring is upon us and with it comes nature’s first expression of the season, the magnificent cherry blossom,” Principal Donna Moro said. “What better way to celebrate this iconic flowering tree than an evening with our renowned art teacher, Todd Hiscox?”

Participants were given the supplies needed to produce a 9x12 reproduction of cherry blossoms in bloom. The in-person event proved to be a big hit, lifting spirits as the Jack Abrams School community strides confidently into spring.

Families took delight in being able to express themselves artistically. Many discovered there’s a “little bit of artist in everyone.” Folks of all ages worked hard to produce something special.

In light of the hands on nature of the special evening, space was at a premium. Families were accommodated on a first come, first served basis.

Ms. Moro called it “a fun evening of creative expression” and it was all of that and more. Students and parents were proud of what they were able to create in a relatively short amount of time.

Mr. Hiscox provided guidance and inspiration and circulated around the area as the artists went to work.

“Mr. Hiscox once again entertained  and challenged our families,” Ms. Moro said. “It was a great night with lots of smiles and laughter.”
