Gianna Forte Reaches Career Milestone

Huntington senior Gianna Forte notched a milestone at Patchogue-Medford on Wednesday night. The Blue Devil star scored four goals to surpass 100 career points and help her team win its second straight game, 14-4.
Forte, a Stony Brook University commit, has been a mainstay in Huntington’s lineup for many years. Her performance this week thrilled her family, teammates and coaches, who all crowded around the teenager for photos to commemorate the occasion.
“Scoring my 100th point was definitely an exciting feeling and a big accomplishment,” Forte said. “A lot of the credit goes to the incredible group of girls I have played with over the past five years. This is a big milestone for sure and I am looking forward to continuing our season this year.”
Huntington took an 8-2 lead into halftime and then went on outscore their hosts by a 6-2 margin in the second half. The victory lifted the Blue Devils’ season mark to 2-0.
Jolie Weinschreider tallied four goals and an assist and Kayleigh Bender had two goals and three assists in the game and Kayleigh Bender had two goals and three assists. Bridget Callery added a goal and an assist. Grace Agrillo, Jenna Italiano and Cameron Smith also scored in the game. Andie DiGioia picked up the win in goal, her second straight, stopping six shots in the game.
Forte’s four goals give her 101 career points. She was presented with the ball she used to notch point No. 100 and was given gold colored balloons that spelled out the number 100 along with flowers.
“Ever since Gianna put on a Huntington lacrosse uniform, she has been an impact player,” head coach Katie Reilly said. “This year, as a senior, her impact is evident and it has been on display in our first two wins, as she scored four points in each game. She is consistent, poised and an important offensive vocal leader.”
